Pocatello Theatricals proudly presents its first community summer musical: Oklahoma!

Set against the backdrop of the American frontier, Oklahoma! tells the story of spirited farm girl, Laurey Williams, and her courtship by two very different suitors: the charming cowboy (Curly McLain) and the brooding farmhand (Jud Fry). As the community prepares for the box social, love triangles, rivalries, and questions of statehood stir up drama. Full of iconic songs, lively dances, and heartfelt moments, Oklahoma! celebrates the hopes, hardships, and heart of a growing nation on the brink of change.

Director/Producer
Catherine D. C. Barker
Catherine is a big believer in the magic of community theater. She’s seen how it can take a bunch of strangers and make them sing, dance, cry, and haul set pieces together—and in the process turn them into a little family. Then these families knit together to form a community of friends who love and support one another. It’s this love and passion that drove her to create Pocatello Theatricals in 2024. Catherine has been in over 50 musicals, from tiny background parts to leading roles. Some of her favorites through the years have been Sibella in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Milly in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Johanna and Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, and Rusty in Footloose. Directing Oklahoma under the banner of a theater she founded has been a dream come true for Catherine. She sincerely hopes to leave everyone feeling a little more loved and a little more enchanted. “Thank you to my cast, my family, and especially my dear boys–Matthew, Teddy, Luke, and Jonathan. Where would I be without them?”

Choreographer/Gertie Cummings/Dream Laurey
Deanna Chambers
Deanna started dancing when she was just five years old ; and it’s stuck with her ever since. She started with strict Russian Ballet where she got the opportunity to perform as Giselle and Black Swan. College took Deanna into other areas of study such as modern, contemporary, jazz, partnering and theater. Deanna’s love of performing kept her on stage where she enjoyed playing such roles as Tiger Lilly, Patty Simcox and the Wicked Witch; to which she has done over a hundred performances. Deanna has choreographed more shows than she can count (or remember) and is excited to be back at it after being away for several years. Deanna’s other activities include road biking , reading scrapbooking and teaching ballet.

Curly
Reuben Criddle
Reuben Criddle is known among family and friends for his proclivity for singing, silliness, and tomfoolery as well as a talent for fixing things and working with electronics. Exposed to music and theater from a young age he enjoyed singing with his sisters and participating in church and school productions before making his debut his freshman year of high school in the chorus of Oklahoma! in the fall of 2002. He has been fortunate to participate in other productions including Seussical the Musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease, Cinderella, Les Misérables, Guys and Dolls, and Footloose twice. Although it has been several years since his last show, he brings a wealth of experience and exuberance to his first leading role as ‘Curly’ in Pocatello Theatricals production of Oklahoma! It seems only fitting that his community debut after his artistic sabbatical is the same as his first musical ever.
